I was born in The Netherlands in 1976 + immigrated to Canada at age 4. I spoke no English + was bullied throughout my childhood for my accent, my second hand clothing, the extra weight I carried, my hairstyle + everything that wasn't "cool" about me .... which was... EVERYTHING! I ran away from home at age 14 and hitchhiked to Vancouver. I was in 2 abusive relationships from age 14-21. Both were older men that were verbally, emotionally and physically abusive. The second of these men became my 1st husband who I left when he confessed his multiple homosexual encounters following a "3-some-gone-wrong". I was now 21 yrs old and a single mom with a 1 yr old. 20 yrs later after the sudden passing of my 2nd husband, I discovered that he too wasn't just bisexual, but 100% gay, a secret he'd taken to the grave after 10 years of marriage leaving me a widow + then single mom of 2. Those secrets affected me greatly, perhaps even molding many of my thoughts + how I would move forward through life.
Despite the years of deceit within my marriages, I still advocate for committed relationships + couples working things out through communication instead of ending things. It's ironic however, that I would end up working with thousands of men who lie to their partners about their sexual desires + secret activities. Many of them live in loveless relationships and stay together for convenience, children + assets or simply to maintain a public image.
I've certainly earned my title: Professional Dominatrix and am known as the front runner of the "Online Dom/Fetish Industry" of Canada. Unfortunately society has a very misconstrued idea of what a Dominatrix is and does, simply labeling it as sex work. With the many years of professional services I provided, helping countless individuals and couples change their lives and relationships with my knowledge, advice and training, this ignorance frustrates me. Being treated with disdain is unacceptable yet has become almost a daily occurrence in my workday.
Many of my clients see me as a "sexual consultant and advisor", specializing in fetishes and kink. My boundless real life experiences and conversations with well over 20,000 people has given me insight into the unique, yet undeniable similarities of human sexuality. The endless confessions, honest recollections and memories, personal realities and circumstances my clients have disclosed and shared with me has given me the confidence and ability to mentor, educate, advise and genuinely make a difference by providing the guidance and answers people seek for a broader understanding and acceptance of sexual topics still considered taboo in mainstream society. This level of experience could never be learned in university textbooks by the most educationally qualified therapists. It's even more so apparent when so many of my clients admit to years of conventional counseling or therapy just to find themselves entangled even deeper in lies and shame because the "therapy" they'd completed didn't work. By sharing my insight and stories I hope to minimize the societal stigma attached to alternative sexual desires. It is these stigmas that cause so many to hide their sexual fantasies in shame, leaving them with constant feelings of guilt because of their dishonesty, or simply living a life that doesn't truly fulfill them, just to satisfy how they are perceived.
The name "Above Norms" symbolizes rising above "normal". I question the word "normal" itself considering how rapidly the world around us continues to change. I provide an open, safe space for any conversation, connecting at my clients convenience, and from the comfort of their own homes or a private place, through live video/cam, phone or by text. Living a double life + hidden secrets are something I know of too well. Communicating about sensitive topics can be awkward, even scary with the wrong person but you'll find me extremely easy to talk to, unbelievably compassionate and non-judgmental and I will always tell it like it is. There's very little that shocks or surprises me.
My life has been a series of extraordinary adventures and challenges! My vibrant and diverse voyage has given me unparalleled insight and empathy, allowing me to connect with and understand a wide range of issues and the diversity in the world. Some of my greatest achievements come from providing people with the motivation and confidence they've needed to move forward in their lives and relationships
My Philosophy
Above Norms isn't just a business; it's a reflection of my personal philosophy. With my many years of experience in the domination and fetish industry, I've discovered one of my greatest gifts is empowering others and supporting them in understanding, embracing and playing out the fantasies that previously they'd kept hidden due to shame. In this next chapter of my life, I aim to challenge societal "norms" by opening up the conversation about fetishes and kinks. By changing perceptions and exploring new avenues of insight through knowledge, fetishes and kinks can hopefully be viewed and understood as natural facets of human sexuality, not relegated to the shadows of shame and judgment.
